About Chef Kavin

The chef who cooks like a musician.

Kavin Joshi is a private chef from Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, creating personalised menus for families, private dining, parties and special occasions — across Indian and international cuisines.

The story

A Nagercoil kitchen, a world of flavour.

Kavin's earliest food memories are of Nagercoil mornings — the clang of the idli steamer, coconut being scraped by hand, and the smoky perfume of curry leaves hitting hot oil. In a town where Tamil and Kerala cooking share the same table, he learned early that great food is about balance: sour against sweet, heat against cool, richness against freshness.

That curiosity grew into a craft. Kavin went on to master the cuisines his guests love most — the layered dum of an Indian biryani, the butter-rich gravies of the North, the wok-fire of Indo-Chinese and the clean, sauce-driven classics of Continental cooking — while never losing the home-style soul of South Indian and Kerala food.

Chef Joshi was born from a simple idea: that the most memorable meals happen at home, among the people you love — and that you shouldn't have to spend the evening in the kitchen to make them happen. Kavin brings the ingredients, the technique and the polish of a restaurant; you keep the warmth of your own dining table.

Away from the stove, Kavin is a passionate bansuri player. Music and cooking, he says, are the same art: listen carefully, respect the basics, and know exactly when to hold back and when to let a flavour soar.

01

Rooted in Nanjil Nadu

Nagercoil's kitchens sit where Tamil and Kerala traditions meet. That meeting point — coconut and tamarind, pepper and curry leaf, banana-leaf feasts and coastal curries — is the foundation of everything Kavin cooks.

02

Fluent in many kitchens

From the patience of a sealed dum biryani to the split-second timing of a wok, Kavin has spent years learning how different cuisines think — and how to make them sing in a home kitchen.

03

Written for your table

No fixed menus, no copy-paste catering. Every booking starts with a conversation about who's coming, what they love and what the occasion means to you.

“I don't cook for a crowd. I cook for your grandmother's palate, your child's first birthday and your partner's favourite dish. That's what makes it private.”

— Kavin Joshi
